Rug hooking Retreat Weekends

Having Rug hooking retreats isn't a new concept but I think it could happen and I will make it happen, right here on the farm in Belleville Ontario.

I intend to hire fun, energetic teachers to come and give weekend workshops. Plan to arrive on a Friday after lunch and stay til Sunday after lunch.
Just in the planning stages, I hope to get this idea started for next summer, June until the end of September.

This is the house in which we can sleep 7 people, eat, learn.....and,of course, hook.

The sunroom is the best place to hook.
The pond is perfect for swimming, paddleboating and fishing. It is one acre square, 14 feet deep and is fed by our well. The 26 ft.trailer can sleep 4 comfortably.

The bright, open concept living area with lots of windows will be a good space for teaching. We can add some more tables and chairs for the students.
The garage is where we do our dyeing so we can open all doors and let the breezes blow through. My120 pound puppy, Woody will be there to greet you and would be happy to join you if you decide to go for a walk. What do you think?
I think it will be fun!!

My Award Winners

This is my latest award winning piece. It is called " Blueberry Leaves"
It's approx. 24X36 inches and has been sold already.

My inspiration for the piece was a walk in the blueberry patch on one sunny November day when the leaves were on the ground.I took a few pictures. The following photo was the one that I fashioned my piece from.

My first award was for this piece titled "My Boot". It was an old workboot that My husband found in the barn. I hooked the pieces then sewed them together to cover the boot.

This was done in 2004 for the OHCG annual Theme Competition, held in Burlington Ontario.

The West Moira Rughookers were established in 2005. I designed this banner and everyone hooked a fruit or weather square.I hooked my house, my dog and the sunflowers.
We meet at my house in Belleville, Ontario every Thursday 9:30-1:00. We are 1.5 hours east of Toronto on the 401.
We bring our lunch and a loonie for tea and welcome any visitors who would like to join us.
Call 613-966-2658 and we will be happy to give you directions.
We won the award for the original design at the 2007 annual.
The other two awards are pictures in my first blog; The Cottage Country collage and the MacBeth rugs were both created for the Theme award that is given out every year at the Ontario Hooking Craft Guild's annual meetings.
